We highly recommend individual instrument lessons as a foundation for the mastery of your choice of musical instruments.  Learning music theory and the intricacies of your instrument is important and there are some amazing teachers in the valley.  Here are some that we highly recommend.  Please let them know we sent you!  

Jon STarn

  • Jon Starn plays and sings just about everywhere!  He teaches private and group lessons to an enthusiastic group of students.  “I discovered teaching later in life and I found that I had a knack for it.”  He manages the band Big Sis.  “Big Sis is my jaaam.”  He is an artist, he writes, paints and performs.  My art allows me to connect with people.”  He is a great host of a many different events (Music Competitisons, Open Mics, Concerts…etc.)  Jon is at KSM Muisc right now with a smile on his face saying “Can I help you?”  He is the founder of Willow Tree Music School and is a co-founder of Good Times School of Rock.  “I’m taking my love of teaching to the next level by teaching to more and more students.”  Jon is a forward thinker and a hard worker.  “I feel I can make a difference here in Cache Valley, so that’s where I’ll start.”

Chris Jesse

Percussion, Jazz, Funk, Rock, Latin, and Afro-Cuban styles


Chris is currently working toward a Bachelors in Music Education at Utah State. He actively performs with USU Percussion and Jazz Ensembles as well as Indie rock band Young North.  Chris has been playing drums for 12 years and has been teaching private lessons for 6 years.

Kelin has been performing for over 15 years, and has traveled across the country and abroad playing music. He has performed at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival, Abravenel Hall, The Way Out West Festival, and many more. He received a Bachelor’s degree from USU studying under Michael and Corey Christiansen. He has been teaching for ten years, including University Courses for Music Majors and non-Majors, and his own private studio. He plays in several groups on several instruments, and has been featured on many albums.

Rick Langenheim

Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Ukulele


Rick picked up the guitar in the 60's and hasn't been able to put it down since!  He has played in several bands growing up while living in California and continued when he move to Utah.  Rick went to Utah State University and gained the education necessary to be able to be an effective guitar and ukulele teacher for beginners!

Allie Harris

Allie received her Bachelors in music education in 2015 with a Guitar emphasis at Utah State University.  She studied guitar with Mike Christiansen, Corey Christiansen, and attended many other master classes and live music events.  She currently performs and records with her band Mama LongLegs!  She has experience performing with quartets, duos and solo for countless events around Utah, including Abravanel Hall.  She has played guitar for 16 years, and has taught for 12 years.  She encourages application for her students including live performances at restaurants, recitals, and recording video and audio for youtube.

Joe white



With almost 20 years of experience, the mandolin is his "bread and butter".  Specializing in the basic fundamentals and fret-board theory.  He actively plays live shows and he loves to share the art of music.  He plays for Where the Rowdy Things Are and the infamous R.J. Diggins!  You can also see him sitting in with various musicians in the Valley and around the USA.

Craig Anderson


Vocal Coach


Craig Anderson has been performing as a musician, vocalist, and actor for the past 40 years. His vocal training came

from Dan Truhitte who played Rolfe in the Original Sound of Music Motion Picture. Craig Also studied theater and

vocal technique at Sacramento State University California. Craig performed professionally throughout the western

states including the Hiltons, Sheratons, Holiday Inns and Harrah’s Hotels. Craig has also worked as a sound designer and sound technician at many live theaters throughout California and Utah. 


“My goal in teaching is to help students reach their fullest potential as singers and to build their confidence in the

process. I feel it's important to get out of the lessons what you want, so I don't have a set curriculum. I tailor each lesson to the student. Lessons focus on each student as an individual and can include anything from vocal technique and song choice, to audition

coaching and recording sessions for ear training.”

Michael Thompson

Michael has been playing guitar since he was about 9 years old.  He has been heavily involved in setting up open mics, promoting local music events, coordinating touring acts, organizing concert series and playing festivals.  He writes and inspires original music for local talent and has even had his hand in inspiring music that has been noticed and shared by the likes of Metallica.  He has been touring with bands in Utah for the last four years.
